Testimonials on Independent Websites
One way to boost the strength of your customer testimonials is to utilise independent websites that hold your company profile and offer review options. Here are some pointers.
There are testimonials, then there are TESTIMONIALS. Of course we want the strongest. They have the best conversion power if seen as independent, and positive. They are strongest if they can’t be tweaked or edited in your favour, or self written.
Placing the testimonials on your own website creates suspicion in some minds. Being a former writing instructor I can spot the change in tone so know when someone writes their own, however many people can’t so are suspicious of them all.
The best option is to offer your customer an independent website opportunity to write candid comments and rate you.
For example, you can write one for me. My business Marketing Online has a profile on Finda, a New Zealand business directory. If you are inclined to do so I would appreciate your Finda Review on Marketing Online Sticky Websites Blog.
You should all be registered on Finda already per my post from way back…if not do it now. They offer independent Review handing which you can do as above.
Make it easy for customers to write a testimonial. When customers thank you or suggest improvement or whatever, you can have an email reply written at the ready that you can forward to them with a link to where they write their review.
Why bother about testimonials? My recent article advised you to gather testimonials to help new visitors to gain confidence in your service or product. I gave you several reasons why Testimonials are Key to Increasing Conversions – moving site visitors to site buyers. I won’t repeat why.

Completely appreciate your stance in this matter. Although I would slightly disagree on some of the finer details, I think you did an awesome job explaining it. Sure beats having to research it on my own. Thanks
