Tempt Kiwi Travellers
Increased numbers of Kiwi travellers are staying home for their holidays. Here are some tips to tempt them your way.
Think newsletter or a dedicated page on your tourism website.
Perhaps you form a tourism marketing alliance with a couple other providers.
- Appeal to a kiwi’s curiosity, some place they haven’t been and want to see with their own two eyes. The big drive behind the OE is to see for yourself places you’ve read about.
- Appeal to not putting off seeing your own country. We all talk about how it’s criminal to see so much of the world and not our own land. As am immigrant I’ve been hungry to see and experience the corners of my new home. Yet it’s a common phenomenon, to go see outside because we think there’s plenty of time to see our own places. Ha!
- Historical significance. Surely somebody famous did something notorious in your neck of the bush.
- Write your own Brain Trainer quiz. Write 10 factino’s on your area. Make it fun. This could form the core of all sorts of competitions and giveaways to write about in your next newsletter.
- winter getaway pages (if you didn’t in February when I first suggested you get them ready). Yes we want a break in the middle of grey-sky-season.
- the deal appeal. Travelling off-peak season should save us money. The newspapers say money is tight and we need to watch out so offtering a deal makes sense.
- an easy whole-tamale sort of package. No decisions required after 1000 every day, a holiday with no decisions to be made is a real treat. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, entertainment (tours, dvd, massage, gallery), accommodation. All in one. Easy.
- pamper package. Physical rest, tender touch, rehab. It attracts those feeling worn down.
- the unusual. This calls to people feeling trapped in the mundane. We feel refreshed when we’ve broken out of the box. It’s exhillarating.
- ummm, ahhhh. You tell me.
Bottom line: tempt me to come visit, send me some links.
