Search-based Keyword Tool by Google Fills Your Gaps

Late November 2008 Google gave online marketers a new tool, Search-Based Keyword Tool. I give it a thumbs up for finding those elusive keywords you may be missing.  We’re getting access to the motherload of data Google acquires on search habits of global searchers.  Make use of it.

Use it to learn what new products your customers are searching for. Get the jump by offering products before your competitors do.

Just about any business can use this tool not just retailers. I have an ebook in the works that I needed a title for plus checked out topics that searchers want explained…my future books.

 Google Search based Keyword Tool

It’s quick and painless once you are registered for any Google products. Use your same login, enter your URL and a test keyword, test a new product category, test a new product name.  Watch the list of suggestions come up.  Then jump on them.

Help? is truly helpful.  As I was moving from screen to screen I had questions pop up that were quickly answered by clicking Help?.

Set Countries and Categories.  I always start generic, keeping things set for All Categories to begin, then later drill down.

It’s not a replacement for my never-be-without Adwords Keyword Tool, but the two are a powerful complement. Together Google provides the small business owner heaps for doing DIY SEO and sound competitive analysis for their internet marketing.

Let me know how you get on.
