Cheap Accommodation Number 5 Searched for Term

Like it or not, the number five most popular Google search in New Zealand related to accommodation is cheap accommodation. Number four is holiday accommodation.

Here’s an easy to use tool to research keyword popularity by search terms, locations and time ranges.   Enter accommodation and see how Northland leads the pack of favoured regional destinations (a bit surprising) and peaks each January over the last five years (not surprising).

Accommodation providers, don’t cringe and go for more polite terms. If your tariff is at the lower end of the scale, don’t miss out on all the searchers looking for your website.  Don’t use budget or reasonable rates, go ahead, use cheap.  Check out the Google tool.

To get your target market you need to talk their language.  Check out the Google Insights for Search. Their tagline is ‘See what the world is searching for.’

  1. Ooh, that is a good little tool, Kath. Some search terms are deemed too insignificant to warrant a graph, but that tool is excellent for showing whether you are on the ball with your keywords, and even if what you are maximising your site for is something for which interest has waned. Could cause a whole new re-think for some people!

What I also found interesting was the keywords where Google included news items, and in the case of the keyword I looked up, those “news items” were actually Press Releases. That’s another tool I need to make use of, but tend to put on the backburner due to not currently knowing the best way of going about it.

But like you say, and I’ve read it elsewhere, what you do doesn’t have to be perfect, you just have to go ahead and do it!

Thanks and well done Lesley… I see my message didn’t fall on deaf ears here. Great comments.
    Kath
