Facebook MySpace and LinkedIn - Choose one
Just do it. Unless you want to be left in the dust, business owners just have to join in on the social networking opportunities.
Two friends created their business Facebook profile over the holiday break. Did you?
Here’s
- why you should, and
- a comparison of the most popular.
It’s not just a US thing or just a personal thing. Worldwide huge numbers of businesses and customers utilise the free software’s ease in setting up a place to profile and update their business happenings.
Choose Public or Private Settings. You decide what best suits your goals. Make it public if you are open to worldwide exposure to like-minded people with the very positive it can bring (and very negative if you include way too much personal stuff info). For many, like me, with mostly a family profile choose the private setting, sharing only with invited friends and family.
Create an online profile. I prefer Facebook, but you can go with MySpace or other (I’m open to suggestions).
LinkedIn is imperitive if you want work in the US and international organisations. It’s all business. It is far more than an online CV. It includes your referree statements. I maintained a LinkedIn profile but removed it because I wasn’t chasing those jobs.
Here’s helpful info. I agree with this bloggers perspective so why should I repeat. About Facebook benefits. And on Facebook vs LinkedIn.
Here’s a comparison. Over a year ago Eric compared features of Facebook to MySpace. I too dislike MySpace due to the anonymity role.
Don’t stay on the sideline. Have a go. This is legitimate online presence. Like riding your bike, owning a website or doing email, you’ll learn best as you go.

Kia ora Kath,
Actually joined Face book after your recommendation along with Bebo. Have given up Bebo as like many couldn’t work it out, but Face book has given me good link to old friends & has resulted in a large increase of visits to my website but so far no work out of it.
Interestingly someone doing a background check on me found one of these posts to you as first contact with my website.
Still working on ways to get Face book to work for me & also going to go back to my linked in connection to see how that can be improved.
