Finda - New Zealand Business Directory
Every website wants traffic. Here’s a must do. You cannot afford to ignore having a free listing on Finda and thereby getting on the Google map that appears on top of the local search results page.
Do it now if you haven’t already. If you already have one, expand it to 100 per cent status and ask your happy customers to turn their testimonial into a Finda review. You’ll be sorry you didn’t.
Finda now dominates local area search. People searching their neighborhood and NZ national area will come across a Finda listing in the top 6 results.
You cannot afford to not be in Finda. They’re the online New Zealand business directory functioning even better than the Yellow Pages in book form. Flawless no, but since they implemented their agreement with Google Maps in May they have gotten their act together more and more.
Try this yourself. Do a Google search for Christchurch plumber (tick pages from New Zealand). You get the full Google Map, complete with stick pin representation of the alphabetical list of where the business is.
Try it for your business sector. Do a Google search for your business type plus location. Example - accommodation Whangarei, or engineers Whangarei, security company Christchurch, tours Dunedin, etc.
Problem. Sometimes the Finda database categories result in weird inconsistent results. For example, a search for ‘bed and breakfast kerikeri ‘ yields no map and list.
However, do a search for ‘bed & breakfast kerikeri’ - note the & symbol - you get a great long list. Hummm. So if you are having trouble finding your sector list, try different variations.
My recommendations
Get the most bang - visibility and therefore increased website traffic from your listing - by using Finda’s helpful tips . Follow Finda’s advice; make your listing complete with photos (watch the per cent meter which tells you how much available space you have), reviews help you get to the top. Contact them for more advice expecially if your category yields no map.

Kia ora Kath,
thanks for this. I have had a listing with Finda for some time but can’t find my log on details to update. Will have to look again. As you will notice my e-mail & website addresses have changed as I was able to finally take notice of your advice from seminar.
