Website of the Month August 2008 Arm Candy

A new company named Arm Candy has a winner tagline ‘Be Noticed’.

I saw their ad, loved the boldness of their tagline (the line under their logo) and went looking for their website.  My Sticky Website of the Month, August 2008.

Can you guess just what arm candy is?  We know eye candy is something luscious to look at be it a design, colour, a hunk, curves, or all of the above. A true feast for your eyes.  So what is Arm Candy, the business?

Arm Candy Website of the Month September 2008

Arm candy =  luscious designer handbags.  Arm Candy the business: designer handbags for hire.  Hire for a week, month or more.  The cost to hire is $100s, to buy is $1000s.

I heard you gents moan.  I’m not into handbags myself let alone designer ones. I carry the smallest possible when I must wear one.

You have to admit, the business name is great.  Arm Candy.   Thus their tagline - Be Noticed. That’s the point.

Searchable, no.  Is the domain keyword rich for optimisation of the site, no. So what. How many people expect there to be such a service anyway?  They’ll need to rely on offline ads to drive people to their website.  Like they did me.

People would search for handbag hire (Google #1) or designer handbag (oops, unseen by Google).

The name works because it’s memorable and the tagline tells why you bother hiring a handbag - be noticed!

What makes a great tagline?

  1. Foremost, a tagline tells what the business is about. No doubt.
  2. Shows the personality or culture of the business.
  3. helps a small business, not just big corporates build brand awareness

Test your tagline by trying the reverse. The reverse cannot be true to any degree. The opposite of Be Noticed would be go incognito, or be forgettable.  Not with a designer handbag you can’t.

Remember,  send me your suggestions for web pages or websites you feel deserving of notice.
