Increase Traffic with Txt
Internet Marketing: Increase Traffic by Adding a Txt Channel
Let me tell you about one smart guy who is boldly bringing more traffic to his real estate listings by adding txt as an additional channel of communication.
In my recent workshops on increasing traffic, my crystal ball for reading future trends said txt is becoming a preferred business communication channel. Your customers just may prefer txt over emails, mobiles, land lines and fax. I do.
Txt is not just for private communication, txt is not just for under 20s. Txt is for mobile users of any age who are on the go with savvy phones, untethered to emails and PCs and laptops.
Here’s the case study of the smart-cookie real estate agent already using txt in his business. I saw a listing for my dream home in the Herald insert for Harvey’s Real Estate. I love the house in Mahurangi West (if I win Lotto) and love that I have four options on how I can get more info.
The trail blazing agent in my case study is Greg Allen-Baines of Broadbent RE Harvey’s Warkworth.
Here are the four, not just the usual three, options he wisely gave me the reader and what might possibly go through my mind as I moved through the buying process.
- txt option - 4 pics/info. txt cost only 99c. Heck a call to his mobile may cost me as much and I wouldn’t get photos. This will be my easy way to get more info.
- website address with ID# http://www.harvey’s.co.nz/ ID#L2276 but then I’d need to go to my PC which isn’t handy or occupied or in the next room. The website will probably have more than 4 photos. Maybe later.
- mobile phone number m. 021 271 4121 but then I’d have to talk to someone (possibly get interrogated) naw let me look first. I did talk with Greg and he didn’t interrogate me, he was very helpful with the tech details on how it works for him. Thank you Greg.
- office phone number 09 425 8589 but then I’d probably have to leave a message for a call back and I don’t want to make a big deal out of it, I just want preliminary info.
txtSell is the NZ business providing Greg with the tech service. They set it all up for a monthly fee.
Your business too can take orders for goods and services from mobile phones, anywhere in the world. You enter your products and services, they make them instantly available. This is just the beginning for offering a txt option whether B2B or B2C.
Txt is the preferred option for some buyers at different stages of the buying process. For some it’s during screening data, helping at the initial stages of decision making early in the buying process.
Add txt as a channel and you’re likely to gain loyal clientele of txt savvy techies who want things quick and convenient, via their mobile, 24/7. I do. You know the joke about teens txting someone in the room to turn the TV channel.
Business use of txt is just starting to build momentum. My crystal ball tells me it won’t be long before all other real estate agents offer their public the txt option for more info/now/mobile. Easy. Other sectors watch out. I reckon for retail and hospitality the time has come.
If only I had a mobile phone plan that didn’t bankrupt me for mobile emails/photos. I’m on the prowl. It won’t be long.
If only I had a mobile phone plan that didn’t bankrupt me for mobile emails/photos. I’m on the prowl. It won’t be long, I hope.
PS Good luck to the vendors of this fabulous property and thanks to Greg for being a trail blazer with technology. Good on ya txtSell.
Anybody with some first hand experience they want to share?

Hi there Kath - very interesting. I checked out their website - no mention of price though, so I had to ask.
Did you know - Arches - has just opened the newest ’boutique’ conference venue in Whangarei - very exciting, we are very proud parents. We haven’t quite got the paint off our hands yet! Lambing has started and both our best ‘calender girls’ have produced twins in the last 24 hours - busy, busy, busy. All the best, Ada.

Regarding cost of the service I would think it varies depending on length and extent of products you make available. As with anything you need to be clever with price of product you list and figure how many products you need to sell to cover the cost. Best to talk direct to txtSell and other providers. I got a ballpark figure of $295/month for the real estate service. Prices are bound to come down as the technology matures. Aint it fun!
