Pangea Day May 10

Sorry I’m a week late on this but better late than never. I highly recommend you see the positive power of ’social networking software’ at work.  May 10 was Pangea Day.

This is some of the good stuff blogs and sites like YouTube and Facebook etc can do. Spread goodwill. The theme is seeing the world through others’ eyes through film.  Here are a few clips.

Funny, alarming, clever, sensible, inspiring. Great antedotes for war and subprime failures.

All sorts of short 1 to 5 minute films made by everyday folks were placed on YouTube.

Social networking sites, like this blog, easily pass the word on the good stuff people do.

I admit I hadn’t heard of Pangea Day before my niece sent me links from the USA. Thank you Krista.

The day’s intent is explained in the one minute Global Story Tellers clip (appears professionally made).

Particularly moving was watching the national anthems. Kenya singing India’s National Anthem, everyday French people singing the USA’s (true, I watched it showing familiar sites around Paris and no sarcasm), Japan sings Turkey’s, Australia sings Lebanon’s.  Bridges being built.

There’s also a 5 minute story The Ball of kids playing football with a blown up condom covered in the yarn stolen from an old ladies knit jumper. Left me grinning but it played havoc with my not so fast broadband. Letting it cache over some time helped.

Facebook and Debo get’s bad press for creepy things. Here’s some good stuff enabled by social networking sites.

What do you think of that? Was it in the news around here or did I have my head in my blog?

  1. Pangea Day was televised live on Freeview’s channel 6. I happened to stumble across it and have to say that it was the most positive, uplifting TV program I have seen - EVER! A most inspiring event looking at our global village and how each and everyone of us can make a difference by treating our fellow men with love and compassion.
