Improve Search Engine Visibility with Link Rewards from Making Comments
Do your own website a big favor and leave comments on blog articles. Why? …improved search engine visibility of your site, plus increased traffic.
It’s not just me that says so. Other web experts recommend having a weekly comment plan based on some sort of blog selection criteria.
Decide which blogs publish articles that
- you find interesting and can even learn from
- you can add value by commenting/adding to the discussion
- the blog’s readers are in your target market.
Here’s how and why making comments have twofold benefits to your site.
Your benefits are twofold
- Increase traffic back to your own website by making click-worthy comments. Readers will want to see what you and your website are about. Your comments add value to the discussion, show your experience, show your expertise, show your common bond with other readers. Readers will click on your comments and you’ve got a new visitor!
- Improve the mana of your website URL by adding an inbound link to your website.
See how the clicking works. See the comments at the bottom of my article on a Spam Solution. Go ahead and click on a comment. See how it takes you back to the commenter’s website, giving them an Inward bound link.
Now Add a Comment. Remember to click on a Post headline to get to the Leave a Reply box. This is where you make a comment and leave your website address.
How you make comments. Refer to Part 2 of Blog Basics on How to Read and Understand a Blog , in particular point 7 Comments and Leave a Comment (21A).
Link juice is Search Engine Optimization speak for the power of links. While both helpful outbound links are ‘rewarded’ when search engines rank your site, in the case of comments, you get valuable inbound links when you make comments.
See my Free DIY Resources section on the left sidebar. Download the Search Engine Visibility Advice pdf. Notice near the bottom of the long list of things search engines want to see…Links!
Why do search engines value links? Because links show you are being helpful to your visitors, pointing them in the direction of related sites to help them in their efforts to solve their problem. Thus, the bigger the sites you link to and the more closely related sites they are to yours, the better.
Set a Comments Goal Now. How many comments do you want to make per week. Yes, why not per week. You can learn by reading articles and you get payback (as if learning doesn’t have enough intrinsic value of its own).
Actually, making comments creates a triple win. Win-win-win.
- you win a plus for the inbound link
- you win new traffic to your website
- the blog you comment on wins for gaining comments
Do you have a comment plan in place? Tell us about it.
