Website of the Month Award March 2008 FundraiseOnline

FundriaseOnline website came to my attention as I heard the feel good story of Mavis Davis willing to put his grit and sweat into the Ironman 2008 to riase money for Cystic Fibrosis, a condition impacting his best mate’s youngest son, Logan Webb, and of couorse whole family. Cool eh?!

Fundraising is historically hard to do. Good news. It’s now many degrees easier thanks to using internet technology.  We hear about lots of good folks doing special things to raise funds for good causes but often the collection of money or record keeping can be a pain.  Not so any longer. This site is the ultimate in easy, a great example for all website owners.

The big deal about this website for me was I could easily show my support of not only the sweaty guy, but the child, the family, and the charity from the convenience of my computer. How easy is that!

It took me literally less than 2 minutes to make my donation.   Read for yourself the Michael (Mavis) Davis Fundraising Page  to see how easy it is and why FundraiseOnline NZ is the March Sticky Website of the Month.

Sticky Website of the Month March 2008Show the human side of your cause. A good example is the personalised story written by Logan’s mum, Janet Webb.  It shows what you or your group could put together for your charity to show the every day impact of the issues.

You can even help Mavis reach or exceed his $1000  fundraising goal by making a donation.  After all, Cystic Fibrosis is NZ’s most common life threatening genetic condition greatly benefited by exercise and physical activity.

FundraiseOnline wins the award this month for making it EASY for everyone involved: easy for the fundraiser, easy for the donator, easy for the charity, easy for the taxman.

At the bottom of the page you can see the list of friends or general public who have donated (like you). People who want to honour a dedicated friend’s efforts to support his mate by doing some fundraising.  I call it remarkable.  And so too is Fundraising Online.

Pass this on to your friends with NZ registered charities. Or, perhaps you work with a group that could register and haven’t.  Let this be motivation for you.

I don’t have to say much more about the site. It is easy to navigate whether you are the fundraiser setting up a new page or if you are there to donate.  Read the tips page to get an idea how to maximise the fundraising efforts.

So how much does it cost? Free to the person donating, 5% to the charity for the admin processing fee.  When you think of the larger audience you can appeal to using today’s default communication tool, websites. Well, perhaps the 5% fee is a deal.

O Contraire. My husband got a sneak peak at this before going live and he wrinkled his nose at the amounts of each donation being open for public view.  Doesn’t bother me.  What do you think?
