Website of the Month Award February 2008 Kate Smith Artist
New Zealand Pastel Artist of the Year, Kate Smith, of Canterbury runs a website worthy of notice. Short sharp succinct content gives a visitor a positive experience. Plus a standout Contact page. Thus, my Sticky Website of the Month Award for February 2008 goes to Kate Smith Artist. Take a look.
Good Content and SE Visible
Every bit of content supports her as an artist and showcases her work as an award winning pastel and wildlife artist.
Besides having just the right amount of the right content her site can be easily found. Do a google for pastel artist in NZ pages and number 8 leads you to Kate Smith, or google for wildlife artist and number 5 leads you to Kate Smith. As it should.
Plus her URL uses her name plus what she is, an artist. www.katesmithartist.co.nz All good stuff. She did this on her own or had good advice (not mine). But having a descriptive URL is indeed part of what I recommend on my free download pdf Search Engine Visibility Advice. Kate’s URL is a perfect example.
Note the bite size paragraphs are well headed, informative and not too lengthy. An online reader looses the point if a paragraph is more than a few lines long. Remember this point from my sticky articles on readability. Online readers skim, they don’t read every word.
Image as a Reminder on the Contact Page
A Contact Page is important for more reasons than just giving easy contact methods. And easy newsletter sign. Sure these are important and Kate does these well. A contact page is the page often bookmarked and if any page is printed this is it.
The photo of her award winning art makes it a truly Sticky web page.
Plus, a prospective buyer (of not only art) often prints more than one page. By having a representative image on the page, a reminder of the product remains in front of the buyer. It helps the page stand out, becoming even more memorable.
Growing List of Awards
Congratulations, Kate, on a great website. Plus, I love your art. It speaks to me.
From the list of art awards it sounds like your art is getting the attention it deserves.
Now you can add Sticky Website of the Month Award February 2008. It’s a winner!

One of the most important thing to make real dreaming about 1st page of google is diversity of link sources, and links of course have to be dofollow.
