Video on Tourism Sites
Have you done any holiday planning lately and seen sites using awesome video clips? New technology allows clips to searchers to give them a feeling of being there. Helps visitors see if the place is really as nice as the photos.
I was checking out a special to The Moorings at Vanuatu and came upon a TV interview scenario. While the clip is hidden behind an obscure link at the bottom. You are indeed rewarded for having to click not once but twice (ugh).
The Moorings use a TV interview. While you wouldn’t need a TV celebrity to interview you it might give you ideas on how you can bring your tourism site to life.
You could make your own video clip..even short 10 second clips and utilise free VodPod or You Tube.
A good features of Vodpod or YouTube gives you the option of displaying a frame of the video so you get benefit of at least a still frame. As site visitors get more use to clicking on video they’ll recognise the centre arrow on what appears to be a photo.
Don’t go overboard but strategically placed to really show the visitor some aspect of your accommodation or activity that doesn’t fully show in a photo.
It’s worth consideration. Keep your digital camera handy and practice shooting short clips with and without narative. Visitors won’t mind a bit of unsteady hand work and unscripted narative. It’s authenticity that counts and persuades you’re the real deal.
