Add Video - Add Value
Use Video When Words Just Don’t Make It
Today’s technology makes it easy for business owners (actually any site owner) to add video without bogging down loading speeds. The video clips are stored online, not on your website!
You can easily add high value to your visitor’s experience - 1000 fold improvement - by showing rather than telling. Sound familiar, I have recommended plenty of photos for years.
Now we can go one step better thanks to the boom in online sites for video storing and sharing, like mine at vodpod.com shown here in my blog like you can do on your site.
On my right sidebar I show you my video clips that make me laugh. I plan to change these as I gather clips that might help you smile too. I wanted to show you, not tell you ways I keep my work/life balance. Laughter is a great stress release so I have a heap of clips to rotate in as samples of how I meet the challenge of adding more laughter into my life.
- our Kiwi lads the Conchords with their silly white-mens dancing making us famous around the world. We finnaly get it on TV. My USA friends have told me about them for over a year. Have to admit after a few weeks I’m getting tired of their schtick.
- the quotes that inspire and those that make me laugh…even when I them again and again
- the utter joy sharing Fiji’s surprise World Cup win.
- a glimpse of the awesome view from where I write this blog in New Zealand
These clips all make me laugh and bring me back to me.
For website help in adding video to your blog or website, visit Web Designer Jo Couchman’s Creative Web Ideas blog . Jo clearly describes the steps and lists several good examples of when a business could use video. Plus she gives a link through to her personal blog Mum2Boys. You really must have video to show young boys pulling faces!
Think about it…just about any business website could benefit from adding a bit of video…not too much … that really shows the customer what you’re talking about. Tony Foster at Bushman’s Friend shows a rolling slide show on his lower right sidebar. He uses customised music really showing off the Whangaroa Harbour and Houseboats. While I favour Vodpod.com Tony is utilising YouTube capabilities and the list goes on.
