Dylan Rocks My Socks

Bob Dylan Still Brings Thunder to my Mountain

Bobby Z balances workBob Dylan put a spell on me when I saw him at Vector, then again at The Civic in Auckland a few months ago. I’ve been skipping along for weeks and humming his tunes - expecially Thunder on the Mountain, the encore that got me up dancing. It rocked!

I admit to being a fan from way back… in the before days when he was Robert Zimmerman. Here I am today wanting to follow him to wherever his next concert is. What’s happened to me?

Perhaps I was way out of work/life balance having been sick with Shingles for 11 weeks, having sold the family business, house bound and in dry-dock off all red wine while being heavily medicated. No fun. No work/life balance in sight.

Or was it something more?

Yes, seeing him in concert has made me a believer…there’s life after selling a business and setting up a blog. I had been getting blogged-down and boring, then came Bobbie Z back into my life.  Might be more to it. (Are you bored with me saying boring?)

Perhaps I’ve been sparked by the new twist he’s put on meaning of old lyrics with new phrasing. You can see’s kept growing along with the rest of us. Yeh Bobby Z.

Like no other since, he is still sneering at war and politicians, teasing humanity, and laughing and recently loving more than ever.

Since before it won the Grammy award, I’ve had Modern Times on random repeat in my little 350Z.  The fox trots and waltzes surprised me after the relentless chanting of previous albums. But these new rhythms are coupled with his same penetrating insights but more on living and loving as a 60-something in these modern times. And relevant to a 20-something if the audience demographic is any indication. In a word, awesome.

Line of the night…
You think I’m over the hill?
Think I’m past my prime?
Let’ me see what you got.
We’re gonna have a whoppin’ good time.

Spirit on the Water, Track 2

What do you think? Any insights?

Perhaps I just went ga-ga once I had some fun after being so boring and slow lane.

Perhaps I need no reason other than Bobby Z rocks my socks off and it was a whoppin’ good time.

  1. Kia Ora Kath,

Like the submersible idea.Seen them few weeks before in an article & is now a goal.

Re Dylan. Was part of his security at Christchurch concert. Sad world, but be careful saying you are going to go to concerts where ever. Number of stalkers identified there was second most after Dame Malvina Major(yes the opera singer)at one concert. They follow him all around the world.

Aim to use the information you are sending out to grow my website. Afraid couldn’t see the VB website you have recommended as though on broadband would not finish download.

Keep upgrading my goals & setting no limit on them. Like I said one of those submersibles in on that list.

    Ken
